We highly appreciate patient to follow up with their results, to allow essential disclosure and explanation of their results and further treatment plan. It is the policy of this practice to have all patients return for a consultation for their results. Only in certain circumstances the nurse will be authorised to give results over the phone.
Patients with current Medicare cards are bulk-billed. Non Medicare patients are charged at the standard Medicare rates. If you have a private health cover, your payment is fully rebated by the insurance company. Services not covered by Medicare are privately billed Eg: Employment medical’s, Driving, and reports. Fees vary due to the length and complexity of a consultation and are determined by individual GP’s.
Consultation is by appointment. Patients presenting without an appointment will be fitted in at the earliest available time. Urgent medical matters will always be dealt with promptly. Please “check-in” with reception on your arrival to avoid an unnecessary delay in the waiting room. Please cancel appointments prior to the allocated time. Every effort is made to keep to appointment times but this is difficult due to emergencies, walk-in patients or unexpected longer consultations. To help us schedule appropriately, please tell our receptionists if your consultation is likely to be long (e.g. insurance medicals, postnatal checks, pap smears, counselling, excisions, or more than one member of the family is to be seen.) MISSED APPOINTMENTS Your appointment time has been set aside for you. Therefore the doctor will be unavailable to see other patients. We require at least 2 hours advanced notice cancel your appointment. For all missed and cancelled appointments with less than 2 hours notice, for a same patient for more then twice any occasion, you will be charged $40 in your next presentation. Gosnells Medical clinic is not liable to any telephone reminder calls. It is patient responsibility to remember of their appointment. The reason to the policy is, a missed appointment presents problems for us both. For patient, a missed appointment causes a delay in treatment and continuity of care. For the centre, a missed appointment prevents us from scheduling another patient that could have benefited from treatment.
Please make an appointment if you require a medical certificate for work or school. Note that it is illegal for a certificate to be back-dated, or to be issued without a consult.
This practice is designed for wheelchair access. We have a wheelchair available if required. Should you have special needs please discuss them with your doctor.
At Gosnells Medical Clinic we can arrange an interpreter if required/requested for all appointment’s or you -the patient can contact the interpreting service on the phone number the practice provides, during your appointment.
The doctors can perform many minor surgical procedures if required (e.g. removal of moles or skin lesions, treatment of simple fractures). Cryotherapy (for skin cancers and warts etc.), nebuliser, pap smears and resuscitation equipment is available. A longer appointment time may be required so please inform the receptionist.
Nobody likes to be kept waiting and we are all aware of this and try to adhere to appointment schedules. However, the unpredictable nature of medical practice means that doctors sometimes run behind time. This is mostly due to a patient requiring urgent medical attention. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to patients when we fall behind with our appointment schedule.
Our goal is to provide a quality, caring service. Therefore if you have any concerns or suggestions please phone, write or email our Practice Manager. We genuinely wish to hear from you. From time to time this practice invites patients to complete questionnaires on their views of the practice and how it could be improved. These surveys are completely confidential and help us improve our services.
Should you require medical attention after hours please telephone 1300 300362 for further information. Our after-hours medical services are held in conjunction with WA After Hours Doctor Service who are a fully accredited service. Please check our opening hours prior to calling this service, as we are open 7 days per week.
We have in place a computerised recall and reminder system. You will be reminded to attend the surgery for an appointment if your doctor feels that it is appropriate.
